The Plant Bar at Ojai + Fox Social Club is a relaxed, hands-on space where you can create your own living piece from the ground up.

Start by choosing the vessel that speaks to you, then decide what kind of little world you want to build. From succulents and air plants to tropical terrariums, mossy creations and miniature gardens, we’ll help guide you toward the plants and materials that work best together.

Choose your substrates, stones, moss, decorative elements and finishing touches, then settle in and create something completely your own.

No green thumb required. No artistic experience required. Just come play.

How It Works

1. Choose Your Vessel

Start with the container you want to build in.

Our available vessels will vary and may include terrarium glass, hanging globes, bowls, planters, trays and other unique finds.

2. Choose Your Plant Style

Next, decide what you want to grow.

Depending on your vessel, you may choose from options such as:

  • Succulents

  • Air plants

  • Tropical plants

  • Closed terrarium plants

  • Moss gardens

  • Miniature or fairy gardens

We’ll help make sure your plant choices are appropriate for the vessel and growing conditions.

3. Build Your Creation

Once you know what you’re making, you’ll choose from the appropriate substrates, mosses, stones, sands and decorative elements.

We’ll gather your selections and give you everything you need to build at your seat.

Then the fun part begins.

Take your time, get creative and make it yours.

Reserve Your Plant Bar Time

The Plant Bar is open:

Sundays | 11:00 AM–4:00 PM

Reservations are recommended and are completely free.

Choose your arrival time and tell us how many people are joining you. Your workspace will be reserved for up to 90 minutes.

Arrival times are available throughout the day based on seating availability.

We can accommodate up to 16 guests at one time, so advance reservations are especially helpful for groups.

Walk-ins are always welcome when space allows.

Booking Tip

When choosing your reservation, select your party size first.

The available arrival times will automatically update based on how many seats are available for your group.

The small number shown with each available time indicates the number of seats still remaining.

Come Alone or Bring Your People

The Plant Bar is meant to be social.

Come spend a quiet Sunday creating something on your own, bring your best friend, make it a date, bring your mom or daughter, or gather a group and build together.

You’re welcome whether you arrive knowing exactly what you want to make or have absolutely no idea where to start.

We can help with that part.

The Plant Bar FAQ

  • Your Plant Bar experience includes access to the materials appropriate for your project, guidance from our team and a workspace for up to 90 minutes.

    Depending on your project, you may be choosing from:

    • Specialty substrates

    • Decorative sand

    • Gravel and stones

    • Moss

    • Plants

    • Natural materials

    • Miniatures and decorative accents

    • Finishing elements

    Some projects will include a set number of plants and materials with optional upgrades available.

  • Plant Bar creations start around $35, with final pricing based on the vessel, plants and materials you choose.

    You’ll know the pricing of your selections before you begin building.

  • Perfect!

    You do not need any plant knowledge or crafting experience to visit the Plant Bar.

    We’ll help you choose plants and materials that belong together and walk you through the basic construction of your project.

    You still get to make all the fun decisions.

    The goal isn’t for everybody to leave with the same thing.

    It’s for you to leave with something that feels like yours.

  • Reservations are recommended but not required.

    We have seating for up to 16 people at a time, so reservations guarantee that we have space for your party when you arrive.

    Walk-ins are welcome whenever seating is available.

  • Your workspace is reserved for up to 90 minutes.

    You absolutely do not have to use the entire 90 minutes. Some smaller projects may take considerably less time.

  • Absolutely.

    When booking online, simply select the number of people who will be joining you.

    Our reservation system automatically checks that enough seats are available for your entire party.

  • For larger groups, celebrations or private gatherings, please contact us about a private Social Club event.

  • Nope.

    That’s what we’re here for.

    We’ll help guide you toward plants, substrates and vessels that work well together and explain how to care for your finished creation.

  • Not at all.

    You can browse the available vessels and plant styles when you arrive and decide what catches your eye.

  • No — and that’s part of the fun.

    Our selection will change with season, availability and whatever interesting things we find.

    That means there will almost always be something new to discover.

  • When available, yes.

    We may also have plants, vessels, accessories and other Social Club goodies available for purchase.

  • Please contact us before bringing your own container so we can make sure it is suitable for the type of project you want to create.

  • The Plant Bar is designed primarily for teens and adults. Children ages 10 and up are welcome as long as they are able to independently participate in creating their own vessel and are accompanied by an adult. Because the Social Club may also be a BYOB environment, we try to keep the overall atmosphere geared toward older kids, teens and adults rather than young children.

  • If there is no reservation immediately following yours and seating is available, we may be able to give you additional time.

    However, during busy periods we ask guests to respect the 90-minute reservation window so everyone has a chance to create.
